Discover the trails and paths of Berguedà and/or Lluçanès, with signposted routes that offer spectacular views and the possibility of getting to know the native flora and fauna. These routes are ideal for family walks or for the most demanding hikers, offering sections of different difficulties and distances. From quiet walks through oak and holm oak forests to climbs to peaks with impressive panoramas, Berguedà and Lluçanès have options for everyone.
Enjoy mountain bike routes suitable for all levels, from smooth tracks to more technical descents through forests and fields. Cyclists can explore country roads and footpaths that pass through farmhouses, farmland and lush forests. Some routes close to the farm are a circular route from Merlès to Pinós or the Sant Andreu de Llanars route. You can check these routes and many more at:
Get to know the Medieval bridge of Merlès. This bridge dates from the 14th-15th century and is easily accessible. The function of this bridge was to connect two population centers that separated the stream: Santa Maria and Sant Martí de Merlès. Traditionally, like many other bridges, it was said to be the work of the devil and it was related to the Pedra Dreta de Lluçà, which according to legend is a stone that fell to the devil while he was transporting it from Lluçà to Merlès for the construction of the bridge and there it stayed.
Explore the medieval castles in the area such as Castell de Merlès. These castles, located in strategic points and with privileged views, tell us stories of battles, conquests and the daily life of the time. The construction date of Merlès Castle is roughly in the 9th century, as it is first documented in 893 in the act of consecration of the church of Santa Maria de Merlès. Currently the state of conservation is very bad, it is in ruins and only one wall is preserved. In fact, oral tradition says that many houses in the village could be made of stones taken from this castle. In the region and neighboring towns you can also find other castles such as Lluçà Castle or Berga Castle .
Lluçanès and Berguedà were the land of witches and bandits, so in Merlès there are also some legends that speak of them. In our town, the most well-known is the legend of the Napa Witch:
Maria Pujol, born in 1767 in Cal Nap de Prats de Lluçanès, according to legend prepared her potions and kept the chickens, many of them stolen, in the hollow rock in our town.
Do you dare to visit it? If you’re up for it, there’s even the route of the Napa Witch, which will allow you to get to know other outstanding places such as the Galceran Chair or the Church of Sant Sebastià.

The Perot Rocaguinarda space in Olost will allow you to learn more about banditry and one of the most well-known bandits in Lluçanès. We also encourage you to get to know the story from the game, making an “Escape Room”: Escape Perot. https://espairocaguinarda.cat/
Admire the Romanesque architecture and cloister of this 12th century monastery, a space full of history and spirituality. The monastery is an outstanding example of the region’s medieval art and architecture, with features such as carved capitals and ancient frescoes. In addition to the architectural visit, you can participate in cultural activities and workshops that are organized there, such as concerts and exhibitions, which make the visit even more enriching. Other Romanesque jewels of Lluçanès to visit: The Crypt/Tribune d’Oristà, Sant Andreu de Llanars de Prats de Lluçanès, The Medieval Bridge of Sant Martí d’Albars…
We also encourage you to visit other places such as:
Enjoy the Festa Major de Santa Maria de Merlès on August 14 and 15, with activities for the whole family. However, depending on the year the program has some variations, so if you are interested, ask us!
